Water cooled chillers cool by the circulation of water and refrigerant through coaxial tubing. The innermost tube contains the refrigerant while the surrounding outer tube contains the water. As the system circulates, the water in the outer tube condenses the refrigerant in the inner tube, the refrigerant then flows through the evaporator. This condensation process cools the liquid in the evaporator. The cooled liquid flows to the reservoir tank. The system is closed so less heat is dissipated into ambient air. Water cooled chillers are quiet and reliable, they are also energy efficient. Water cooled chillers require a substantial water source and system of pumps, piping and fans. As the system tonnage rises the merit of a water cooled chiller increases.

Notes:
(1) Capacity based on 68ºF (20ºC) entering air, and leaving water 68ºF. Allowance made for heat gain from pump.
(2) Chiller flow rate based on 2.4 USGPM/ton (0.54 cu. Meters/hr/ton).
(3) Pumps: DCW150 - Positive Displacement; DCW200 and DCW300 - Magnetic Drive Centrifugal.
